BARBARIAN
The Barbarian is a melee class that uses fury as a resource pool. See a full listing of the Barbarian's skills. This was the first class revealed June 2008 at Blizzard's World Wide Invitational in Paris, where they also announced the development of Diablo III.
WIZARD
The Wizard is a pure spellcaster, harnessing arcane and elemental magic to do his/her bidding via a devastating array of offensive spells. The Wizard is quite similar to the Sorcerer and Sorceress of previous Diablo games, in design and concept.
MONK
Monks are religious, spiritual warriors on the side of Good raised to be pure reflections of their deities through their fighting techniques. The class seems to be focused on martial arts and speed, playing somewhat similarly to the Assassin and the Paladin of Diablo II.
DEMON HUNTER
Demon Hunter was introduced as a character built around ranged combat. They can dual-wield crossbows, launch explosives, place traps, and cast shadow magic (which compliments their dark nature). Due to these capabilities, this class is apparently a combination of both the Amazon and Assassin classes from Diablo II.
WITCH DOCTOR
The Witch Doctor seems loosely based on the real-world Voodoo practitioners, most likely Haitian, though the male speaks with an African accent. The males are depicted as frail old men having a hunched back and always shaking their hand due to their physical weakness, the female Witch Doctor seems much younger, capable of walking without a hunch.
